Overview
You work in the food industry. You understand how important it is to comply with its standards and to maintain the highest levels of safety and security.
We are Commercial Security Consultancy and we work with firms and individuals like you to protect your products – and your good name.
In recent years there have been numerous examples of problems caused by inefficient practices or insufficient safety procedures. These have harmed the reputation of the company responsible.
The food industry, like many others, understands how to produce and deliver its products cheaply and effectively, all the way from farm to fork.
What we at CSC understand is risk management, business continuity and reputation management and the way they can impact positively on that process at every stage.
Our Services
Site Security Assessment
We will conduct a realistic and comprehensive security risk assessment. Working with you to establish your requirements, the comprehensive assessment will be relevant to the risk, vulnerabilities and requirements of your business. A comprehensive report will be presented to you identifying tangible recommendations.
This process will identify any weaknesses in your physical and procedural security systems. It will explore the actions and expectations of your staff and provide you with the foundation on which to build an effective security infrastructure. A secure base from which all other activities, documentation, investigations and training are developed.
This is much more than a review of access controls and CCTV. The audit and report takes in to account every activity necessary to improve safety of your staff, your visitors, your clients and your reputation.
Documentation
It is important that all aspects of security are covered by effectively written plans, policies and procedures.
These will ensure all actions and considerations are available to those who have to manage during the management of emergency incidents and business continuity.
The plans should be written for and relevant to this site and not be generic in nature. Policies and procedures will ensure that both corporate and site issues are clearly identified and documented
Documentation is required to ensure that all investigations and incidents are assessed and managed against a template.
Effective plans and clearly defined responsibilities form the basis of all responses to Incident Management. Documents will support clear leadership and control of incidents.
Training
Exercises to suit your needs within a supportive learning environment. This will be accompanied by a structured de brief and opportunities for organisational learning. Such training will improve your companies response to a wide spectrum of incidents.
Having recognised YOUR key risks, we work with you to create bespoke training testing and refining to produce an effective response and positive outcome in the event of having to manage an incident. Develop both confidence and competence within the senior management team.
Table top training exercises, with managed paper feeds that escalate a scenario, are used to test the readiness and actions of senior management.Realistic and relevant challenges support improved team dynamics and a better understanding of strategic and tactical considerations whilst managing incidents.
Compliance
To ensure that an effective security structure exists it is important that compliance is fully audited. Most businesses are guilty of not checking that what they believe is being actioned is actually happening.
Companies as well as the employees who are the owner of specific plans requires support to ensure that documents are current and can be relied upon. There is a need to ensure that all activity undertaken as a result of any review is audited for compliance. Documents and associated behaviours created for good reason often lack the necessary checks to ensure their continued implementation and improvement, resulting in little or no change to safeguarding the environment.

Maintaining standards and keeping customers happy
Customers want to be sure that they and their families are eating precisely what it says on the packaging. If contamination occurs, for any reason, they may go elsewhere and it can take a long time for the company in question to recover.
The food industry is regulated by a series of codes of practice and standards. They include:
- BRC8: The British Retail Consortium’s Global Standard for food safety, issue 8 – the most widely used commercial standard for assuring the production of safe food
- TACCP: Threat Assessment and Critical Control Point – part of the daily routine for every major food manufacturer and supplier
- HACCP: Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point – developed in response to the increase in food fraud
- VACCP: Vulnerability Assessment and Critical Control Points – closely aligned to TACCP in the push to ensure product authenticity
